Learn any string instrument

I teach violin, viola, cello and double bass out of my house in Pleasant Grove. About thirty students at the moment. Some have never held an instrument and some are getting ready for auditions, and I teach all of them myself.

What I spend lesson time on

Tone and intonation, mostly. Both are far easier to build early than to fix later, so that's where the time goes at the start.

Then reading. Properly, so a student isn't guessing at the page from what they remember hearing. That means rhythm and sight-reading, and enough theory to understand what's in front of them. Theory's in the lesson. I don't charge separately for it.

One teacher for the whole family

If your daughter starts on violin and two years later her brother wants to play cello, he doesn't need a second teacher. Same house, same evening if you want it, and you're not driving across town twice a week.

The first lesson

Come and play. We'll see how you get on, and afterwards you tell me whether you want to come back. I'll be honest with you if I don't think I'm the right teacher.
